From fog-bound London to sun-drenched France…

1947. Exasperated by her tyrannical family, Vicky escapes from rationing and austerity Britain and flees to the south of France.
But she’s not there just for the glorious food, wine and sunshine she has an inheritance to claim, and a mystery to solve.
Can she find her wartime husband, Philippe d’Icère? Is he alive or dead? A hero or a traitor?  An imposter, or a true Frenchman?
Do the answers lie in the Languedoc village of St Aphrodise, where danger lurks in the ancient streets?
How can she be sure who’s a loyal friend and who a bitter enemy?
Vicky seems destined to fail—or will she, in the end, find out the truth about Philippe?

Although, as with so many of the books I get for my KIndle from Amazon, this book had a few editing glitches but not nearly as many as some of the "chick lit" books where the grammar is awful and the punctuation non-existent. Anyway, that being said, I found this book to be quite engrossing. I especially like the character of Julius. The "mystery" was solved fairly clearly and I found myself truly interested in learning the actual fate of Phillippe. Try this book - you'll like it if you are looking for a little history, a charming setting, and engaging characters.

Finding Philippe Lost in France edition by Elizabeth Edmondson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I have just recently started reading the works of Ms. Edmondson. I have enjoyed all of them so far. "Finding Phillippe" is an enjoyable suspense with romance as the icing on the top. I will be looking for more of her work.
I've become very fond of Elizabeth Edmondson's writing -- her characters have depth and veracity, her settings come alive, and she is a master of atmosphere. So it was a pleasant surprise to find her turning her hand to something very like a romp of a mystery -- though one with a grave underlying theme and considerable suspense, and one in which there are a few seriously dark characters, some onstage, some off.

Still, it left me with a smile on my face and a nice little glow -- a very good mystery, set in a very interesting time and place where people were still dealing with the aftermath of unspeakable horrors, and also a delightful romp in the south of France.
Silly story, Hints at abuse from the father, but not in any believable way. Was it sexual or was he just strict? And then the 15-year old niece getting involved with a 27-year old with the heroine's blessing. Come on. The number of coincidences - ridiculous. It seems like the author had no real idea of what the story was going to be about, so put in some information that would lead somewhere, then forgot about it. I read the book because I actually found the author's book, A Man of Some Repute, to be enjoyable, and the prologue to this book was well-done.
Excellent read, set in Britain and France in the post-WWII era. Great characters, very nice to spend time in their company. While the story is a touch implausible, a lot of things happened in that era that were even more unlikely. Suspend your disbelief and have a great time.
This is yet another book where the author seems to have succumbed to either a time deadline, page limitation or her own boredom with her book. The book suddenly ends without answering several questions (what happened to the father). It also develops a controlling father into a monster in a way that does not make sense, nor does the casual response to the cousin's behavior make sense. While I enjoyed the book for the first half or so (thus the 3 starts), it got muddled in the end, especially the cavalier conclusion to the mystery.
A good read. I really enjoyed this book although some bits were maybe a bit obvious. I really liked the description of travelling through France in the '40s-'50s. It reminded me of my first vacation in France with my parents in 1956. Really recommended.
What a wonderful book set in post-WWII France and England! I am so glad I found Elizabeth Edmonson's book, as she quickly turned into one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend this book, as the twists and turns kept me turning the pages. The main characters were quite engaging; I especially enjoyed teenager Olivia. I very much look forward to reading more of Edmonson's books in the future. Highly recommended.
